goal & context

The primary goal of "doggo" was to study connections between specific dog behaviors and their mood and health, tracking habits over nearly a hundred walks. This collaborative project involved three UX/UI designers and an illustrator, partnering with Uni Münster. We aimed to create an app that not only met scientific research needs but also engaged users through an intuitive, enjoyable interface.

process & role

Our research phase utilized Miro boards for brainstorming, studying existing pet tracking apps, and gathering insights from dog owners. Using Adobe XD, we created prototypes and wireframes focusing on user engagement and ease of use. We incorporated gamification elements like a personalized dog character and unlockable accessories to harmonize scientific goals with user engagement. My role involved designing and refining the user interface, ensuring it was both functional and appealing.

Final thoughts

The "doggo" app successfully tracks dog behaviors while engaging users with gamification and personalization features. Feedback highlighted the app's ability to turn mundane tracking into an immersive, enjoyable experience. This project demonstrated the importance of balancing scientific research with user engagement for effective data collection.
