goal & context

The goal of "Music in VR" was to create an immersive VR experience capturing the emotional essence of Andrew Belle's "When the End Comes." We aimed to build a realistic yet stylistically developed environment that evolves with the music, eliciting a range of emotions. This project focused on translating the song's emotional tone into a virtual journey that resonates deeply with users.

process & role

We began by analyzing the song's lyrics, melody, and emotional tone to develop a complementary storyline. Using Cinema 4D, Maja and me built an entire island featuring an ocean, mountains, a golden moon, and two butterflies. The visuals were synchronized with the music's ups and downs, transforming elements like a cascading waterfall and a golden river. My role involved creating and refining these visual elements, ensuring they aligned perfectly with the song's emotional shifts.

Final thoughts

"Music in VR" successfully captures the emotional journey of the song, guiding users through a transformative landscape that reflects themes of change and renewal. User feedback praised the immersive quality and emotional impact of the environment, highlighting the project's success in blending music with virtual reality.
